Bridging the Gap: ProFitX to Change the Way Decisions are Made in the NBA

Nick Crain – 9/12/22

In the modern NBA, decisions are made quickly and have long-term impacts on all parties. ProFitX Founder and CEO Joshua Ebrahim is a former NBA agent that set out to change the way those decisions are made across the league. I had the opportunity to pick his brain on how ProFitX is changing the industry. “I’m a former NBA agent. I worked for Drew Rosenhaus out of Rosenhaus Sports,” said Ebrahim. “During my four years I represented eight NBA player and negotiated $32 million in contracts. It was during that time that I found problems that prevented me from doing my job as an agent, which is to help clients maximize their potential and optimize it as well.” The solutions ProFitX provides are democratizing financial and performance data, making it transparent and helping all members of the NBA ecosystem. There’s nothing like these innovative products on the market that bridges the gap between athletes, teams, agents, media and even fans.  ProFitX’s first platform, the Athledex, is an enterprise package that consists of a database housing 450+ active NBA Players, and an essential tool for athletes, agents, and teams that want critical insights and analysis into athlete performance and financial information.

From there, the Sports Profitability Platform (SPP) is a consumer product that allows users to be even closer to basketball analytics than ever before. This AI-powered predictive outcome platform allows users who like Fantasy Sports Prediction to gain insights into performance projections, live game analysis, injury reports, and salary converters that can be configured to your choice of salary cap regulations. This tool has been back tested over the last ten years with over 450,000 NBA games, which results in roughly 68% accurate pre-match projections and 70-90% accuracy during play. The SPP includes odds making for pre-match projections for next 5 days and also displays performance projections for player props.

The data within both platforms is validated after being heavily tested and iterated on over the past few years and has been beta tested by 25 NBA teams. It’s built by someone who truly knows what is going on in the space and identified a key gap in the decision making process. The software has generated over 200 free agency and contract extension case studies over past four seasons. “The first problem I had was that I didn’t have data that accurately reflected my clients’ valuation from a career perspective,” Ebrahim said of his time as an agent. “The other problem that I had was during free agency, you make a lot of really quick decisions and I didn’t have this all-in-one technology with the insights I needed specifically to help my clients make the best decision possible. Those are the problems that I faced and ultimately what led me to set out and create ProFitX.” Moving forward, ProFitX will continue to bridge the gap for all other sports. According to Ebrahim, FIFA and NFL are the next two projects on the radar. This cutting-edge firm is extremely forward thinking and ready to continue impacting the sports ecosystem. Since early concepts of these platforms were designed in 2019, ProFitX has continued to expand and partner with key figures around the league. ESPN NBA insider and former front office executive Bobby Marks is a board member working with ProFitX. The Dallas Mavericks are partners of the firm as well, with owner Mark Cuban advocating for the impact these solutions have on the NBA.  “The Dallas Mavericks are excited to be partnering with ProFitX. Their advanced technologies will provide us with the tools that allow us to gain a significant competitive advantage,” said Cuban. On the athlete side, tech enthusiast and NBA star Spencer Dinwiddie is an official partner of ProFitX and is helping to shape the future of the league with this data. Additionally, former G League Finals MVP and current member of the Orlando Magic, Devin Cannady has partnered with ProFitX as an athlete, investor and member of the board. “I see ProFitX being the gold standard in the sports data industry moving forward starting with the NBA and eventually, as they continue to grow the platform, across multiple sports,” said Cannady when partnering with ProFitX. “In a time where data is so valuable, ProFitX will be a tool that every team, player, and fan will use to strategize and make more accurate decisions regarding player performance and financial projections.”  ProFitX will continue to partner with athletes to demonstrate in real-time how much the software is able to help maximize their career and financial value.   As technology continues to become more advanced, finding an advantage over the competition is even more important. Partners of ProFitX have that edge as they leverage the solutions that have been put in place.
