ProFitX Trade Tracker: Bogdan Bogdanovic

Nick Crain | 2/7/23

The Atlanta Hawks are .500 on the season and looking for ways to shake up the roster. One of a few players that are reportedly available on the trade market for the right price is 30-year-old wing Bogdan Bogdanovic. While he’s a solid player, Atlanta could move him for a piece that might fit better on the roster as currently constructed. With the newly formed duo of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, the Hawks want to be competitive entering the postseason. Based on his on-court production value this season, Bogdanovic is actually performing better than what he’s being paid.  Bogdanovic has a player option worth $18 million next season, meaning there’s a chance he declines it and hits unrestricted free agency this summer. That’s something opposing clubs will have to consider when building potential packages for the high scoring wing. Even then, he is an impact player that’s worth a decent package whether he ends up being a short-term piece or not. With that in mind, let’s use ProFitX’s trade model to identify three packages that could make sense as a starting point for the lead guard, draft compensation aside.

Bulls Re-Tool

Chicago has been one of the more underwhelming teams this season, but aren’t giving up yet. At this point it sounds like the Bulls will look to be buyers at the deadline rather than selling off their top tier assets. On paper, they have a solid trio in Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic. Moving a solid young player in Coby White for the veteran Bogdanovic could be a move that makes sense for both sides.

Denver Further Emerges as Top West Team

The Nuggets are currently the best team in the Western Conference by a pretty wide margin. With that in mind, they shouldn’t be complacent if there’s an opportunity to improve at the deadline. While this deal would be shipping off three players, Bogdanovic would raise the ceiling of the Denver roster tremendously. Furthermore, the Nuggets are reportedly on the hunt for a two-way wing ahead of Thursday. Zeke Nnaji is a promising young forward that could be intriguing to the Hawks.

Knicks Add Veteran Minutes

To be clear, Immanuel Quickley is one of the most underrated young players in the NBA. With that in mind, the Knicks have been reportedly open to trading him for the past two seasons. While nothing has happened to this point, perhaps this is the deadline in which they part ways with him. He’s a spark plug for New York, but when the postseason comes around a guy like Bogdanovic will be extremely valuable.
